Only a few days to go until Saltwater Song launches the Marline Shores series into the world.

Saltwater Song profile picSaltwater Song, the first of my new marlin Shores romances launches in just a few days and it is so much fun to be working on and launching a new series. (It’s also super fun to have covers that say USA Today Best Selling Author on them – not sure that will ever get old). It’s a while since I worked on anything completely new and that’s fun.

The series kicks of with a trilogy that focuses on the Montgomery brothers who inherit a marina from their late father, there’s only one catch, they have to run it together for a year or they lose it. If only they didn’t already have lives elsewhere…

Saltwater Song introduces us to Parker, a record producer and Kelsey the star he discovered years ago. They’re a super cute couple…here’s a little teaser.

    ***

“You guys are good,” he said with a smile. “Ever thought of trying out the music industry?”

    “Nope, never,” Parker deadpanned.

“Nope, me either,” I said with a grin.

“Well, something to consider,” he said, tilting his drink at us before disappearing inside without another word.

We tweaked the song a little longer until we agreed it was done.

“I think that’s it, baby, your next hit single.”

“I’ll give you a credit and a cut of the royalties.”

He waved his hand dismissively. “No need for that, just helping a friend.”

That response earned him an eye roll. “You don’t want another million dollars, Parker? I can see you’re living large, you might need it.”

“Baby, I already have more than enough money. As long as you don’t let Derek touch that song, it’s all yours.”

I sighed. “You had to go and ruin my mood by mentioning him, didn’t you?”

He pulled me into his side and kissed my temple.

“Sorry about that. How can I make it up to you, Kels?” I wanted to say, just take those perfect lips and press them against mine, but I refrained because he had other ideas. “Are you free for dinner?”

“Who else would I be meeting?”

“I don’t know, you’ve been making friends. Could be Em or Hailey or Serenity? Anyway, good, I have an idea.”

“You do?” I felt my tongue dart out to lick my lips, and I was aware of his eyes watching its trail. He wasn’t immune to me at least.

“Yep.” He stood and held out his hands, pulling me to my feet. “Meet me at the marina at five and bring a jacket, okay?”

It was more than okay. Whatever Parker asked me to do at that moment, I’d have done. Strip naked in his yard, yes. Jump into his arms and kiss the stuffing out of him. Yes. Write another song right now. Okay. Go home and grab a sweater seemed well below what I was willing to do, but it was progress, and it meant I’d have more opportunities to maybe get to some of the other things.

It’s time for the release of No Time for Tears – my latest No Brides Club book

No Time for Tears No Time for Tears release day

I’m so happy to announce the release today of No Time for Tears, Book 15 in the No Brides Club series. This is my third book in the multi-author series following on from No Time for Temptation and No Time for Trouble, although each book can be a stand alone the Georgie and Liam  and Marnie and Mal all reappear in No Time for Tears. In fact, Sven and Devon were both minor characters in No Time for Trouble and I knew when I was writing that book that I was going to tell their story.

    Blurb

When she’s unceremoniously dumped by her fiance, Devon Bates heads to New York for some much-needed family time. After a week of moping on her sister’s couch, things are looking up. She’s become a member of the No Brides Club and snagged a part-time job working alongside her sister and handsome television veterinarian, Sven.

But when the paparazzi get a snap of her and Sven together, the two hatch a plan to fake a relationship for the sake of good publicity. Soon enough, the lines between what’s real and fake become blurred.

Sven loves New York but yearns for a quiet life on his family’s farm. Meeting Devon throws that possibility into turmoil. He’s fake dating his boss’ sister which is already bad enough, but now he wants whatever this is between them to turn into something more substantial. But he isn’t convinced Devon is over her ex, and if she decides to run back to Tennessee, she might take his heart with her.

Sven knows the only chance he has to win Devon over is to convince her there’s more to this relationship than just the publicity. Can he make her see that the happily ever after of their dreams is in the cards for them?

    New Release Friday

Welcome back to New Release Friday – let’s wrap up August new releases by some of my amazing author friends.

In short, there is something for everyone I hope. Happy reading!

    No Time for Adventure

No Time for Adventure (The No Brides Club Book 14)

When six friends make a pact not to let love get in the way of their careers, the No Brides Club is born. But could meeting the right man at the wrong time cause them to break their vows to each other?

Victoria Hambersby is a charter member of the “No Brides Club” and that’s given her plenty of time to focus on her career. She’s even on the verge of creating a VA program that will help vets with physical and mental challenges stretch their abilities. But that dream hits a major road bump when she’s informed that she must combine her program with that of Joshua Lewis, the owner of “No Limits” extreme adventure company.

Since two of his sisters are also members of the No Brides Club, Josh is aware of the no romance before career goals motto. So while he finds Vic attractive, the focus needs to stay on finding a way to blend their proposal ideas. But with baggage from their pasts coloring their viewpoints, that’s not going to be easy.

To get a better idea of what Josh’s company has to offer, Vic agrees to a weekend adventure, which, despite herself, stirs her inner thrill-seeker. Surprisingly they may have more in common than they believe, but can they overcome their defensive barriers to let go of the past and reach for the future?

    Like a Boss

Like a Boss – Annabel Costa

Have you ever met someone and hated them instantly?

For me, that was Luke Thayer.

When I met him freshman year of college, he was as smug as he was rich and gorgeous. A spoiled jerk who would get everything he wanted in life.

    Now it’s sixteen years later.

He’s just as obnoxious and handsome as he ever was, and ten times as wealthy. But he’s not the same—a rock climbing accident a decade earlier has landed him in a wheelchair for life.

And I get one other big surprise:

    He’s my new boss.

Note: This is a standalone enemies-to-lovers romance with some steamy scenes, no cheating, and a HEA. It was previously released as Harvard Hottie and has been significantly revised with a large amount of new content.

Island DreamsIsland Dreams: A Clean Short Read (Vacation Romance Book 1) – Evangeline Kelly

It was a miracle. I never won anything. But here I was, boarding a plane for an all-expenses paid trip to Makani Island. Alone. I wasn’t expecting anything more than a soul-soothing vacation.

Then I met him. A total grouch, or so I thought. A guy I wouldn’t want to see again. Ever. But somehow, he convinced me to take a walk on the beach. The walk turned into an all-night conversation. A once in a lifetime connection. We both knew it, but his mega-wealthy parents had wedding plans set out for him already.

He said he was his own man, but I refused to be a wedge between them. Could I really give him up? The bigger question was…would he let me?

Island Dreams is a clean short read, and the first in a vacation romance series.

Happy Valentine’s Day – new look, new release and a new attitude.

    2/13/2019

Notice some changes here on the blog?
Monique McDonell BrandingI’ve been running this blog since 2012 if you can believe that. That’s a long time and during that time not much has changed. Same banner, same style, same look but the truth is, I’ve changed since 2012 so I thought it was time to update my site to reflect that.

I love my old look and banner but it was reflective of the books I used to write and the covers I had then. It’s funny because people tell me they love the illustrated stand alone covers but those books just don’t sell in 2019. I wanted the blog and the site to show readers who stop by now, most of whom find me from my more recent books, to find a site that matches the books they’ve read. So I’ve had a new logo made and I’m doing a little revamp. I’m still tweaking a few things but let me know what you think in the comments below.

It’s also release week for Flight Bound, A Sweet Valentine’s Romance. I got the idea for this book when I was on a plane one day and I was in the very front row opposite two flight attendants who were discussing their personal lives. It was fascinating. I had to pretend to read a magazine because they were right there and otherwise all I could do was stare at them and listen. It got me thinking how weird it would be if I recognised one of them but they didn’t recognise me and from that idea Flight Bound was born.

Here’s the blurb for Flight Bound, A Sweet Valentine’s Novella
He was her first kiss, she was his first love – a decade later and she’s a broken-hearted flight attendant who has sworn off men and he’s the guy determined not to be relegated to to the friend-zone again.

A chance encounter on a commuter flight brings Mel back into Tucker’s life again and while he’s excited to see her it’s clear she has other things on her mind, like the ex who just dumped her.

Mel needs a break from men and anyway, Tucker is everything Mel doesn’t usually go for in a man – he’s smart, he’s kind and he’s fun – but he’s Tucker the boy the next door. He’s totally not her type or is he?

Can Tucker convince Mel to take a chance on him this Valentine’s Day or will this relationship be grounded before it even takes flight?

What begins as a way to make nice with her new co-workers soon becomes an obsession for Harper as she navigates the ups and downs of managing a fantasy football team. Only problem: she doesn’t know a sleeper from a keeper (or any of the other lingo thrown her way).

Embroiled in a world of lineups, stats, and trades, Harper’s quest to make nice topples when her competitive streak emerges. And her promise to herself that she’ll be a strong, independent woman and leave the drama and heartache behind is seriously tested when she catches the attention of her two biggest competitors: J.J., a local celebrity determined to win a fantasy championship, and Brook, the mild-mannered coach who seems too good to be true. Both threaten her resolve to remain single… and, more importantly, her chances at winning the prize pool.

Deadly Race - Elke Feuer - Cover

    Excerpt from Deadly Race

“I didn’t really have a relationship with her. She was someone I wanted, but she didn’t know how I felt until an hour ago.” Would she decide to kick him out of her apartment for either leading her on or being a complete ass?

She gripped the couch tightly and it collapsed beneath her hands. Her eyes narrowed to slits and her mouth twisted in anger. Here comes her emotional eruption. He braced himself.

“You put me through all of that for nothing?” She said it with so much control he wondered where she got it.

“It wasn’t nothing to me,” he reasoned.

“Wasn’t nothing? Do you know how many times I felt guilty because you had a girlfriend, or know how many nights I lay awake imagining I’d go to hell for the dirty thoughts I had about you in this apartment, inside and outside your car, even the examination table in your office?” She paced before him.

Jackson was speechless, and turned on, as he thought about everything she’d just mentioned. He remembered the night she kissed him in the car and wondered what would’ve happened if they hadn’t been interrupted, or if they’d been in a secluded area instead of outside her apartment.

“Hey!” she shouted, pulling him from his erotic thoughts of her spread out over the roof of his car.

“Stop that! You don’t get to have a fantasy in the middle of my rant. Got it?” Her index finger pointed at him.

He wanted to smile, but knew she’d probably knock his lights out if he did. “Please continue,” he said as politely and seriously as he could.

“Why couldn’t you be honest with me?” She ran a hand through her hair.

Honest about that? She couldn’t be serious? “Honest about wanting someone I hadn’t even told how I felt? I hardly knew you, Remy, and you wanted me to share something I’d kept secret for nearly two years?”

“Two years?” Her voice echoed in disbelief.

It sounded ridiculous to hear it out loud.

She must’ve thought so, too, because she laughed. It started as a light chuckle, but then escalated to full, out loud, boisterous laughter until it was so extreme she fell to the floor behind the couch.

He walked over to where she lay. “It’s not that funny,” he insisted.

She looked up at him with tears in her eyes and laughed harder.

“I’m glad you’re enjoying this at my expense.” He extended a hand to help her up, but she waved it away as another fit of laughter overtook her. “You might not believe this, but I’m incredibly shy.”

She roared louder and gestured with her hand for him to stop talking.

He couldn’t blame her for laughing. He’d been anything but shy around her. She had a knack for bringing out emotions in him that were less than passive, with her audaciousness and that unfiltered mouth of hers.

New release – Deadly Bloodlines by Elke Feuer

    3/23/2014

    Elke FeuerDeadly Bloodlines

    Book Blurb

Years after leaving Cayman because of her notorious serial killer mother, Angel Mason returns as an inspector on the police force. On the twentieth anniversary of her mother’s capture, someone is murdered in the same manner as her mother’s victims.

To complicate matters more, Angel’s old flame, Bren McDougal, is assigned to help her with capturing the killer, and soon it’s undeniably clear that the passion between them is hotter than ever.

As the killer repeats her mother’s deadly pattern, Angel must face the terrifying truth she’d been hiding for twenty years.

    What people are saying

“Elke Feuer skillfully keeps you guessing in this twisty-turny romantic suspense story about a Cayman investigator tracking a copycat killer-one imitating the crimes of a her own serial-killer mother. Suspenseful and satisfying!” ~Francine LaSala, author of The Girl, the Gold Tooth, & Everything.

    Excerpt

Angel Mason sat on the edge of her bed and squished the thick caramel carpet between her toes, assurance the deadly grip of another nightmare was gone.

On the nightstand her phone vibrated, startling her. It was Dustin Williams, Chief Superintendent. The time, 6:30 a.m., flashed in red from her clock. She cleared her throat and prayed there was no trace of the bottle of vodka she’d finished off the night before in her voice. “Inspector Angel.”

“Dead body at Galleon Bay.” He never minced words.

“Some tourist die in their sleep?”

“No, looks like she was murdered.”

Brittle silence hung in the air as the words echoed in her mind like a broken record.

    “Angel?”

“I’ll be there in half an hour,” she stammered.

“Good, I want this dealt with quickly. There hasn’t been a tourist murdered on the island since…”

“Since Meredith,” she finished for him.

“Yeah, and we remember how that turned out,” he said dryly.

The phone imprinted her hand as she squeezed it. No one had forgotten how it turned out, least of all her—no matter how hard she tried.

“I want you to collect the evidence,” Williams said.

“What? Why?” She didn’t normally question his decisions, but she hadn’t worked in forensics since she had been promoted to inspector.

“You’re the most experienced scene of crime officer we have.”

“I’ll take care of it, sir,” Angel assured him.

“Johnson, Sanchez, and Ebanks are already there controlling the traffic and crowd,” he said, his voice sounding miles away.

    “Yes, sir.”

The phone went dead without a goodbye, not that she expected one. He didn’t converse beyond necessity, but she never took it personally. He was like that with everyone.

She went to the bathroom, took out the bottle of painkillers on the second shelf of the cabinet on the wall, and downed two.

As the pills made their way to her queasy stomach, she searched the cloud in her head for how she had gotten to bed last night. Leftover Chinese and drifting to sleep during the nightly news in a vodka-induced haze was all she remembered.

Horrifying screams and blood splattered across her hand paraded before her, remaining trickles from her dream, and the smell of blood filled her nose.

“No!” She gripped the edges of the porcelain sink to steady herself and clear her mind of the images. Her dreams were becoming more frequent and the vivid details lingering long after she awoke.

She let out the breath she was holding and splashed cold water on her face. The reflection in the mirror was an unwanted reminder that she couldn’t escape her heritage or the history that came with it, and there was nothing she could do about it.

Once she showered and got dressed, she pulled her hair into a ponytail. She walked down the short beige corridor to the living room and grabbed her keys off the hook on the wall. The cool morning air blew against her makeup-free face when she opened the door. She inhaled the salty air, and watched the sun peaking over the horizon of the ocean. They calmed her nerves as she made her way down the stairs and to her car. Starting the engine, she pulled out of the parking lot and towards the hotel where Meredith, her mother, had worked before she was arrested for murdering the guests.

Starstruck in Seattle – new release from Juliet Madison

    10/1/2013

Starstruck in Seattle - CoverHAPPY RELEASE DAY! Starstruck in Seattle (plus bumper giveaway)

Juliet Madison is celebrating the release of her third book with Escape Publishing, STARSTRUCK IN SEATTLE, a contemporary romance novella with a touch of magic (romagic).

Aspiring actress Anna Hilford might only have a small role in a leading television drama, but she longs to be dreamboat Karl Drake’s leading lady. Sick of being loveless and overlooked, Anna seeks the help of intuitive love coach, Lulu, from LuluTheLoveAngel.com to give her the courage and determination to follow her destiny. But fate has different ideas, Lulu has undisclosed power, and Anna is about to realise that life happens while you’re busy making plans…

Juliet tells us a little about how this book came to be…

“I got the idea for this story when Sleepless in Seattle was on TV. I thought, instead of a call-in-radio show where people ask for advice, what if there was a website that specialised in helping people anonymously with their love dilemmas? So I thought up the idea for a Love Coach, but as I like to do in many of my stories, I decided to give it a slight magical twist, and gave the character of Lulu some other-worldly powers that help her to give destiny a shove in the right direction. But, as Lulu discovers, doing destiny’s work can be a pain in the wings, and may be more challenging than she thought. ”
