It’s time for the release of No Time for Tears – my latest No Brides Club book

No Time for Tears No Time for Tears release day

I’m so happy to announce the release today of No Time for Tears, Book 15 in the No Brides Club series. This is my third book in the multi-author series following on from No Time for Temptation and No Time for Trouble, although each book can be a stand alone the Georgie and Liam  and Marnie and Mal all reappear in No Time for Tears. In fact, Sven and Devon were both minor characters in No Time for Trouble and I knew when I was writing that book that I was going to tell their story.

    Blurb

When she’s unceremoniously dumped by her fiance, Devon Bates heads to New York for some much-needed family time. After a week of moping on her sister’s couch, things are looking up. She’s become a member of the No Brides Club and snagged a part-time job working alongside her sister and handsome television veterinarian, Sven.

But when the paparazzi get a snap of her and Sven together, the two hatch a plan to fake a relationship for the sake of good publicity. Soon enough, the lines between what’s real and fake become blurred.

Sven loves New York but yearns for a quiet life on his family’s farm. Meeting Devon throws that possibility into turmoil. He’s fake dating his boss’ sister which is already bad enough, but now he wants whatever this is between them to turn into something more substantial. But he isn’t convinced Devon is over her ex, and if she decides to run back to Tennessee, she might take his heart with her.

Sven knows the only chance he has to win Devon over is to convince her there’s more to this relationship than just the publicity. Can he make her see that the happily ever after of their dreams is in the cards for them?

    March Madness for Me

Welcome to March – is yours as crazy as mine is? I’m having my own mini version of March Madness it would seem.

I haven’t done a life update here in a while, so why not now?

So I’ve resigned from my day job to go back to consulting. I’ll still be working with that NGO and I already have my first client, so really that’s two clients. That’s the good news.

The bad news is I don’t finish until April and my new client has a big project in March so I’m working two jobs.

Mr Monique and I already have an #emptyesky trip planned mid-March. Basically I’m doing an ARRA (Australian Romance Readers) book signing in Sydney on Sunday and then on Monday night we’re hitting the road to Melbourne where I’m doing a second signing the following Saturday.

We were flying but after the Australian bushfires a campaign with the hashtag #emptyesky has happened encouraging people to visit the areas ravaged by the bushfires so that’s what we’re doing. We’re really looking forward to it and it happens to co-incides with our wedding anniversary so that’s fun. I’ll be posting on social media so keep an eye out.

Meanwhile I have a book releasing on March 6. No Time for Trouble, my next contribution to the No Brides Club Series. I’ve popped the blurb below and the goregous graphic my fellow Cinnamon Bay author, Connie made for me. I’m graphically challenged. I know what I like, but I often make graphics that are just plain ugly. It’s nice to have friends who are awesome!

So that’s a whole lot already. Oh yes and Something of a Spark is free right now so you might want to grab yourself a copy because you can’t get a better deal than that. I really love that series and I hop you do to. I didn’t do the best job of promoting it honestly so I hope more readers find there way to it because it’s a really sweet series about a bunch of very different sisters who each find their way to love. Something of a Spark is part of the March Freebie Giveaway, check out the others books in the giveaway as well and be sure to enter.

I know there’s more happening – oh yes I’m finishing a novella for an amazing boxset I’m in mid-way through the year. That story is a prequel to a new trilogy I’m launching in late 2020. And finally the Cinnamon Bay romance series is getting a whole new set of books later this year so there’s lots going on behind the scenes there too.

    Like I said, March Madness.

    No Time For Trouble, Blurb

When six friends make a pact not to let love get in the way of their careers, the No Brides Club is born. But could meeting the right man at the wrong time cause them to break their vows to each other?
One bad date too many leads Marnie to the No Brides Club but a fake engagement to a New Your playboy might just lead her to love.

When Marnie Bates’ sister announces her engagement and she’s summoned back to Lemon Tree, Tennessee for the engagement party she accidentally implies she has a fiancé. Unfortunately, the first name out of her mouth is Mal Cooper’s, he’s a friend and a player and she’s already turned him down. Still she’d rather swallow her pride and ask Mal for help than go home embarrassed and alone. She just has to keep reminding both of them, this isn’t real.

Mal can’t believe his luck when Marnie asks him to be her fake fiancé for a visit to her hometown. He’s been looking for a way to get closer to her and this is opportunity to prove he can be the best boyfriend ever. Let the wooing begin! From daily surprises at the office visits to chihuahua cuddling at the dog shelter Mal is ready and that’s before he even gets to Lemon Tree.

Can their time together prove to Marnie that they both want the same things and that Mal might be just the guy to give her everything she ever dreamed of, and so much more.

Launch day Interview with No Time for Love author, Raine English

    1/4/2019

To celebrate the launch of the No Brides Club series I’ll be hosting each of the authors on their release day – let’s kick it off today with Raine English, author of No Time For Love
The No Brides Club - No Time for Love Release Promo
    Q&A with Raine English

Is there a character in the novel you most relate to?
I would have to say it’s Kinsley King. I used to be a real estate broker so it was easy for me relate to her not wanting to give up her business and move to the country.

In the series, the characters make a pledge to focus on their careers and not on dating/finding love. It’s January, have you made a New Year’s resolution? Or have you ever made a group pledge or pact with friends and did you keep it?
2018 was a tough year. My home was hit by a tornado so much of the year was spent dealing with repairs. This year my resolution is to stay positive no matter what happens.

The No Brides Club series is set in New York – can you tell us a little about yourself and where you live.
I live in a quaint New England town about halfway between New York City and Boston. I’ve traveled to both cities many times and love spending time there.

The characters in the series have sworn off dating – have you ever been on a particularly memorable date – good or bad?
I’ve only been on one blind date. It was set up by a friend who thought she was a fabulous matchmaker. Well, in my case, not so much. Turned out my date was so boring that I couldn’t wait to get home. Needless to say, we never went out again.

What was the most exciting part about writing your novel in the No Brides Club Series?
I loved including so much wildlife in the story. Many of my books have dogs in them, but this is the first time I’ve written about wolves, bears, coyotes, etc. And the fact that Kinsley had no experience with animals of any kind was a lot of fun to write.

When six friends make a pact not to let love get in the way of their careers, the No Brides Club is born. But could meeting the right man at the wrong time cause them to break their vows to each other?

Kinsley King loves her lavish lifestyle as one of Manhattan’s most in-demand real estate brokers. She’s worked hard to get to the top, and she’s not backing down now… But when her favorite aunt bequests her a wildlife sanctuary in the middle of nowhere, she has a tough decision to make: honor her aunt’s last wish or put the property on the market and maintain the life she adores.

Dylan Reese, on the other hand, thinks life off the grid is just about perfect. That is, until the owner of the wildlife sanctuary he manages dies suddenly and leaves the place to her spoiled city-slicker niece. Now he, too, has a choice: leave it all behind or swallow his pride and take orders from a woman who wants no part of this particular commitment.

Sparks fly in this opposites attract sweet romance as Kinsley finds herself falling for the swoon-worthy sanctuary manager, causing her to rethink the no marriage vow she made with her girlfriends, while Dylan wonders how he’s going to keep from losing his heart to the one woman who’s sure to break it.

A Musical Monday year in review

    12/30/2018

    Musical Monday

    2019 a year in review

I tried to think of a song to sum up the year and it’s hard to go beyond Seasons of Love from RENT. (Also when is RENT coming back to the stage in Australia it was awesome?) After all, kind of like me the song measures the year in love and cups of coffee.

This year has been a really mixed one for me in terms of both life and writing. It hasn’t been catastrophic, and I am well aware I lead a very fortunate life, but just like everyone some years are harder than others and this one has been a bit of a slog.

Let’s start with the not so great writing-wise. I had some plans for some collaborative projects that I was excited by this time last year that fell through – one was a multi-author book and the other was a box set that got cancelled. I was excited by the prospect of not working alone so much, because being an indie author can be pretty lonely. In the end those projects falling through taught me a valuable lesson that I’m often better off on my own working at my own pace.

I had a target to release a certain number of books in 2018 and I didn’t reach it. In fact I only released three books in 2018 under my name and two under a pen name. That was disappointing and the result of a tough day job that left me no time for anything creative at the end of the day. To be honest i felt out of sorts and like I was swimming through mud from about February onwards.

So when I think about my writing goals for 2019 I think of this song.

So moving on what went well? No one wants to dwell on the negative.

I released the Something to Sing About, from the Jewel Sisters Series just before New Year last year and yesterday I finished the third book in that series Something to Savor so it will be out in February and the final book Something Worth Saving will be out in March.

I released two books in the new Courtside Romance Series in July and November with two more to come in early 2019.

The highlight of the year was definitely the release of Any Way You Like It, the final Book in the Upper Crust series. I had a great time with the unicorn themed promotions and the book was really well received. Let’s be honest completing an 8 book series is no mean feat. I did a whole playlist for the book which was fun but this Ed Sheeran song most encapsulates Dave and Tasha’s story and the whole experience of writing the book for me.

So 2018 was also a fantastic year for me in terms of new opportunities and professional development

I was chosen to write a book for the No Brides Club Series for Sweet Promise Press which I’m super excited about. It did give me a collaborative experience which I had been looking for. I also joined a group of authors and we established the Coffee Talk on the Boardwalk Facebook group. We’re releasing a series in 2019 and we’ve had a lot of fun with readers naming elements of the town Cinnamon Bay where the stories will be set.

In July I was in Washington DC for my day job and I hopped over to Denver to visit a friend and meet up with fellow authors attending the RWA (Romance Writers of America). I was able to meet up with the awesome authors who were present from the ChickLItChat Facebook Group for dinner and the next night I met with Melissa Storm the Publisher from Sweet Promise Press and some awesome sweet romance authors.

In November I was in LAs Vegas for the 20Booksto50k writers conference and I met lots of amazing and inspiring indie authors there. I made some great connections with people I plan to work with and collaborate with moving forward as well as gaining lots of knowledge on how to better market my books – now I just need to implement it all. Finally in December Laura Chapman, a fellow chicklit author was in town and we spent a glorious day talking all things books.

And I just worked out I read in excess of 200 books in 2018 – okay even I’m blown away by that!

So what lies ahead for 2019?

You may not know this about me but I do love a plan. I don’t always stick to my plan but I do like to start out with one. My plan for 2019 is to release a book a month between now and September. The books include for starters a Valentine Novella, No Time For Temptation for the No Brides Club – out January 25th! The last two Jewel Sisters and Courtside Romance novels will be next and then my Cinnamon Bay novel for the Coffee Talk on the Boardwalk series.

I’m really excited about the year ahead. I’ve quite my day job and will be looking at new things work wise in 2019. Hopefully I’ll have a little more balance and creative energy.

I’m keen to explore dictating my books so that I can walk and write – You can’t write a book a month, work, run a family and exercise any other way – or I can’t anyway.

I’m looking to aim high in 2019. What are your plans? Goals? Aspirations?

We started with a show tune so I figured we’d go out with one. Happy New Year. Thanks for reading and best wishes for a fabulous 2019.
